At our October 28 meeting, Middletown Rotary welcomed Jim Miller, owner of Embrace Benefits, an independent insurance agency based in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
Jim shared insights into the changing Medicare landscape, helping members better understand the differences between Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and supplemental insurance plans.
He discussed the challenges facing Medicare beneficiaries, including shrinking plan choices, changes in coverage, and the important differences between government-administered Medicare benefits and insurance plans offered by private companies. Jim also expressed concerns about some limitations of Medicare Advantage plans compared with Original Medicare.
With Medicare's annual enrollment period underway, his presentation was a timely reminder of the importance of reviewing healthcare options carefully and understanding how today's decisions can affect future coverage and costs.
