NOVEMBER SERVICE ACTIVITY

Our Community Coat drive has begun. Last week, we made our first delivery of coats to the Middletown Food Pantry at the High School. We'll continue to collect new and gently used coats, jackets, hats, and gloves of all sizes over the next few weeks. Please begin to collect items from friends, family, or neighbors and bring them to our weekly meetings or you can arrange drop-offs at the Kowalczyk’s by calling 401-935-5419. Coats will be distributed to the Middletown Food Pantry, the Martin Luther King Center, and other organizations in need. We're also exploring additional collection sites, so stay tuned for more details as they emerge.

NOVEMBER INTERACT CLUB

Our sponsored Interact Club for youth aged 12-18, the Middletown/Newport Rotary Interact Club, will hold meetings in November on the 6th and 20th. These meetings are hosted at the Newport YMCA in Middletown from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. We welcome new members, so if you know any young individuals who would like to experience Interact, please contact Tom at Tomkmit@cox.net.

OCTOBER NEW MEMBER

Larry Kraman's journey began in Brooklyn, New York, initially pursuing law at Brooklyn College. However, his true passion for music led him to become a recording engineer for the college's music department. Over time, he established a recording studio and launched the Newport Classic CD music label, releasing numerous classical pieces. He later transitioned to filmmaking, producing three full-length films, and built important relationships in the entertainment industry. Larry is always enthusiastic about sharing his experiences and insights.

OCTOBER SERVICE ACTIVITIES

In October, we provided volunteer support for the Broadway Street Fair, hosted a Million Dollar Meal (MDM) at the newly renovated Newport YMCA, and took a tour of the facility with member Cori K. Members were expected to donate $22 each for the MDM, and these donations will be sent to support the "End Polio Now" campaign, which is close to eradicating wild polio worldwide.

OCTOBER SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

The evening of October 25th, started with an early bird gathering at the hotel bar and then continued in the dining room with introductions and discussions about favorite service activities. During the meeting, excerpts from "50 Things Every Rotarian Should Know" were shared, and Hector presented a challenge to think about "why change is difficult." Additionally, the new club website was introduced during this event.
