JULY/AUGUST CALENDAR NOTES - Upcoming meetings, speakers & events (put these on your calendar and stay tuned for more info.
 
Wed. July 10th - Tour of the Artillery Company of Newport at 23 Clarke St. in Newport at 5:30 pm.  More details to come.
 
Wed. July 24th - Board Meeting at 5:30 and Club Meeting at 6:30 at the Newport Wyndham.
 
Wed. August 14th is the Steakout. Please sell your tickets to make the 2024 event a big success and get your donations in for the raffle.  Contact Dick Bernardi with questions. 
 
Wed. August 21st - an evening at Gooseberry Beach with music and a Rotary style Million Dollar Meal to benefit Polio are planned.  
 
JUNE ACTIVITIES/EVENTS
 
Friday - June 7th - Middletown Rotarians supported Newport Gulls baseball by volunteering for tickets collections and sales.
 
Wed. June 12th - End-Of-Year-Celebration & Installation of New Officers.  Our evening started off with a social on the patio and then we proceeded indoors to install out new officers for 2023-2025 followed by dinner.  Our new officers are:
  • Presidents - Angel Gonzales and Chris Semonelli 
  • Vice President - Jack Haggis
  • Secretary - Cori Kilzi
  • Treasurer - Lois Murray
  • Sergeant at Arms - Pat Burke
 
Thanks go out to Kate, Jack, Pat, Hector, Beth P. & Tom who helped make it all happen and especially to Asst District Governor Betty Galligan and incoming district governor Sharon Johnson for joining us and making this event extra special.

Special note and thanks to Beth Fernandez for her valuable service as club treasurer for the past few years and also to Lois Murray for graciously stepping into the role.
 
 
Sunday, June 16th - Middletown Rotarians supported Portsmouth Tiverton Rotary club by volunteering at their annual father's Day Car Show.
 
Wed. June 26th - Barbara Von Villas Town Middletown Town Council person spoke to the club. 
 
Sat. June 29th - Middletown Rotarians set up an information table at the Aquidneck Island Farmers market to meet members of our community. 
 
ONGOING SUMMER ACTIVITIES
 
* NEWPORT YMCA CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS
Sixteen students will get a chance to enjoy YMCA summer camp compliments of the Middletown Rotary Club.
 
* MIDDLETOWN LIBRARY READ & FEED PROGRAM
Young readers are now earning rewards at the library based on the number of books they read and they are decorating pet food cans as a reward for their reading to donate to the Potter Animal Shelter.
 
* UPDATE ON NEWPORT/MIDDLETOWN INTERACT CLUB
The Interact Club cleaned up Gaudet Middle School on Wednesday, June 5 at the Gaudet School. Beach cleanups will be scheduled for this summer as well.  Stay Tuned for updates.
